Él era de estas personas que no debemos apartar nunca de nuestras vidas. Tenía la capacidad de iluminar todo lo que se ponía por delante de sus pasos. Era mi amigo y siempre supo hacerme sentir importante. No sólo importante para él, sino que, también, para todos los demás. Su forma de tratar a la gente hacía que todos nos sintiéramos crecer un poco más.

     Nosotros le admirábamos. Con todos sus proyectos teatrales conseguía arrastrar a gran cantidad de seguidores fieles a los que enamoraba su forma de actuar y la manera en la que sonreía a todos. Su sola presencia, ya iluminaba la escena. Es, por esto, que yo siempre le clasificaba dentro de “los hombres que iluminan el mundo”.

     Pero, ahora, ha perdido la luz. Ya no es el que era y ya no brilla como antes. Se le ve deambular cabizbajo y pensativo. Hace un año que no ha vuelto a los escenarios y no asiste a las fiestas en las que antes era el centro de atención. Un día, preocupado, comencé a pensar en lo egoístas que somos los humanos que aprovechamos las luces de los demás, pero no les damos energía cuando su iluminación empieza a bajar de intensidad.

     Me decidí a llamarlo e invitarlo a comer juntos. Hablamos de cosas triviales hasta que le hice la pregunta: ¿Qué debería hacer yo para ayudarle a recuperar la luz? Me contestó que la llamada para interesarme por él había sido suficiente para cargar las pilas de su linterna. Ese mes le habían entregado un libreto para una nueva obra de teatro que había rechazado en tes ocasiones, pero ese día, la poca energía que le pude transmitir sirvió como detonante para aceptar ese trabajo con el que, como en los anteriores, volvió a cosechar muchos aplausos.

     No sé cuáles fueron las causas de la pérdida de intensidad, quizás no fuera lo importante. Lo que sí sé es que hay personas tan brillantes que nunca nos damos cuenta de que también necesitan de nuestra energía para poder seguir emitiendo la luz que nosotros necesitamos de ellos.

            He was one of these people that we should never distance ourselves from our lives. He had the ability to illuminate everything that could be ahead of his steps. He was my friend and he always knew how to make me feel important. Not only important to him, but also to everyone else. His way of treating people made us feel a bit bigger.

            We admired him. With all his theatrical projects, he managed to draw a lot of faithful followers who loved his way of acting and the way he smiled everyone. His mere presence, already illuminated the scene. It is, therefore, that I always classified him within "men who enlighten the world."

 

            But, now, he has lost the light. It is not the one that was and no longer shines as before. He is seen wandering low and thoughtful. A year ago he has not returned to the stage and does not attend the parties in which he was the center of attention. One day, worried, I began to think about how selfish we are humans that we take advantage of the lights of others, but we do not give them energy when his lighting begins to decrease in intensity.

 

            I decided to call and invite him to eat together. We talked about trivial things until I asked the question: What should I do to help him recover the light? He replied that the call to interest me had been sufficient to charge the batteries of his flashlight. That month he had been given a libretto for a new theater production that he had rejected on these occasions, but that day, the little energy that I could transmit to him served as a trigger to accept that work with which, as in previous ones, he received again many applauses.

 

I do not know what caused the loss of intensity, maybe it was not the important thing. What I do know is that there are people so bright that we never believe they also need our energy to continue emitting the light that we need from them.
